The best way for us to demonstrate how our virus and lockdown ridden 2021 went is with a serious of charts. You know we love charts! The first shows the entries by month in 2021, where we all experienced a 3 month lockdown from January until March, it is no surprise that the normal yearly pattern was thrown widely out with April being the busiest month of the year for bookings instead of the usual June and July. The Summer did then stay quite high until things quieten down towards the backend of the year.
It will be ineteresting to see if, without any lockdowns (we hope!) in 2022 if a normal pattern of online entries is resumed
Our second chart shows a split of all entries by Show Type, and here too we see a change in type of horse event that makes up the bulk of entries. Previously the largest slice of this cake would have been Dressage but, with a move to more online entries driven by Organisers wishing to avoid cash and spread entries on a day to reduce social distancing, we have seen Showjumping now account for 36% of all entries in 2021:
We shall have to see if over the course of 2022 this balance changes at all as we return to 'Normal'.
Our final chart compares the entries for 2021 with those of the previous 11 years entries on horsevents.co.uk. It shows a marked increase in 2021 over 2020 (70% in fact!) and 2020 was already a large increase over 2019, showing the popularity of online entries at horsevents.co.uk
We do not stand still at horsevents with many enhancements added over the previous two years since the major site rebuild we saw at the back end of 2019 to celebrate 10 years of being online, and obviously with many more planned for 2022.
